Walking into House of Blues Dallas is always mesmerizing to me because of the random and wonderful acts I have witnessed in this venue. I mean how random is it that I, a die-hard fan of rock and metal, has ended up in a room full of pumped up girls vibin’, groovin’, and then came out Wale and I swear I thought I was at a Spice Girls concert with all the excited shrieks my eardrums experienced. It's really true about what they say, Wale is all that and a bag of chips. Making his return with his 6th album, 'Wow… That’s Crazy', marking nearly 10 years since his official debut, 'Attention Deficit. He speaks about the struggles a hip hop and rap artist has to go through being in an era of what we currently are in, media overload. Recently suffering with ‘imposter syndrome’ after listening to the album you start to vision the struggles this individual has been through during the bad and good phases of his musical career. The album features from artists like Meek Mill, Rick Ross, and Megan Thee Stallion. This was a show I enjoyed a lot, and to wonderful to see what you are missing out on when you don't step out of your comfort zone. Definitely needed a change from watching mosh pits form from a far. :)

The Radio has died. Along with so many other things. An end of an era and new beginning of media overload. Back in the day, growing up and blasting every genre of music you can think of through my super cool boom box, all was collected from some of my favorite local radio stations. I got my dose of alternative rock from 102.1 The Edge, pop and hip hop from 106.1 Kiss FM, and of course the classics, blast from the past from 102.9 The Mix. All of that has died, except for Kiss FM (don’t quote me on that). For so many years, growing up we were introduced to some of our favorite songs from the radio and MTV, when they used to be cool and stream music videos. What do we listen to now? I came across some people, and asked if I could take peak at their playlist on Apple Music and Spotify. I didn’t find much. It was either a few songs that they shuffle through repeatedly or (this is going to sound really strange) there are a lot of people that still stream music from Youtube. YIKES. Long story short, I had a ton of friends I spoke to about this and they loved the fact that back in High School, way before the first release of the iPhone, I would download music and make them all mix-tapes, well I am not that old, it was more like a mix CD. Coming out from that discussion I really started to explore music and the emotions we feel when we listen to certain songs. I hear “Oops I Did It Again” by Britney and immediately my mind takes a walk down memory lane to my 5th grade Field Day at school, where a bunch of my girlfriends and I danced/mimicked the whole choreography for a group of boys we were crushing on. And whenever I think of that I literally laugh out loud. That was just one of my fondest memories linked to a specific song. Of course there is always one or a few that make us cringe because of the memory behind it but that comes to show that music plays such a great power in our lives and emotions. I love music, I love attending concerts, I love meeting new people, and all of that has come from my love for music. I greatly appreciate it and never take it for granted. My journey up to my 30’s has been quite a challenge (isn't that the story with everyone though) but I always leaned on a good playlist to get my spirits up or to better understand the emotions I am going through at that moment. My gal friend asked if I could make her a mix-tape again but in a modern world version and that is how I developed this blog. I curate an average of 5 songs from my vast playlist and just share them all with you every week. Where will this lead to, we will have to journey through it, but for now there’s no crime in spreading musical delight throughout the world. So here it is. :)

Going to a show at any of the Gas Monkey venue's is always a thrill and my personal favorite. Entering Gas Monkey Bar N' Grill, I saw the stage being set up for the first act, Plain White T's, which was hella surreal. Never did I think 15 years ago as I was listening to their first time hit, "Hey There Delilah", that I would be shooting live for them. As they begin their performance, the crowd eventually starts to sing along. "Hey There Delilah" was great, but hearing their newest release, "Bury Me" off their album Parallel Universe was spine chilling. Tom Higgenson (lead singer) once again had me and the crowd swoon with hopeful thoughts and love. This band has come so far soulfully, Parallel Universe still has a bit of the younger PWT's sounds mixed with an older and current touch. Definitely worth listening to. <3

When I first encountered New Politics I already new this trio was T R O U B L E. "Everywhere I Go", is the epitome of every young adult anxiety that we've experienced. Sometimes you gotta give life the middle finger and continue forward and New Politics stand up for that! Lead singer, David Boyd really knows how to rile up the crowd, from jumping in, to performing hand stands, the band puts on one hyped up performance. Did I mention Soren Hansen, lead guitarist, is freaking C R A Z Y on the strings?! Currently off their new album, An Invitation to an Alternate Reality, I can really connect with "Suspension." Why you must ask? Well you're just going to have to listen and find out. #SagittariusFeels

Headlining, The Mowgli's take stage and automatically I am ready to take over the world. There is nothing but G O O D V I B E S about this band from Los Angeles, California. Their greatest hits, "I'm Good" and "San Francisco" really emphasize about actually taking a step back from our non stop thoughts & life and really appreciating the moments that are happening now. "Do you feel the love? I feel the love, c'mon c'mon, lets start it up, let it pour out of your soul." (San Francisco)

You guys, I can not emphasize enough how much fun these concerts are. Shoes, bags, cars, these are things that last us a couple of years or so. But the amount of friends and memories I have created at concerts are worth a lifetime. I hope you decide to join me at the next show!

...formally known as SharFez by my closest friends and fam. I am your ordinary music enthusiast. Ever since my first cd purchase, which was Chevelle's 'Wonder What's Next' and All American Rejects Self Titled Album it was non stop for me there. See music sparks so many memories, emotions, ideas and creativity. And of course that's what make music so enjoyable. I was lured, and welcomed my self to all different types of songs and artists. Is it weird to own the Titanic & Tomb Raider movie soundtracks? I love leaving a mark with everyone I meet with my favorite songs!

Justice is a French electronic music duo consisting of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay. How did I come across this group, well listening to an excruciating playlist that is on repeat at work got my attention when the channel decided to spice it up and added this gem to it. Funny how this song played on a Monday, when most of us need a pick me up. Fortunately, I clobbered those Monday Blues with this uplifting track, "Randy." Sometimes, it's the simple things in life that motivate us from not falling into a hole, and this was definitely worth the listen.
